about dogs and humanity

Humans and dogs have always had a lot in common. “Like wolves, dogs tend to live in groups, and so do we,” says Richard D. Alexander, Ph.D., a University of Michigan evolutionary biologist and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. “It helps both species hunt and kill prey and compete against rivals.”
2007–2008 National Pet Owners Survey found that nearly 40 percent of all U.S. households currently host at least one dog. Though women are hardly immune to canine charms, the expression “man’s best friend” has statistical backing: Nearly one in 17 American dogs are owned by men living alone.

To speak his merits,

and man’s best friend
